Mini Conversation Heart Pizza Calzones

cans (11 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated pizza crust, thin

cups Italian cheese, shredded

packet (5 oz) mini sliced pepperoni

1

box (2.7 oz) Betty Crocker™ Food Color Gel Neon

    Preheat oven to 400°F. Unroll pizza crusts onto piece of parchment paper. With a 3 to 4-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut the crust into 16 hearts.

    In a medium bowl, stir together cheese and pepperoni. Divide cheese and pepperoni mixture into 8 parts and place in the centers of 8 of the heart crusts. Place a second heart crust on top of the pepperoni and cheese mixture. Use a fork to seal the sides of the top and bottom hearts together.

    Crack the eggs and whisk together. Pour the whisked eggs into four separate small bowls. Tint each bowl with 1 teaspoon of the four colors. Whisk the coloring until well-combined, then use a basting brush to spread each color on top of two of the mini pizza hearts.

    Bake heart calzones in preheated oven for 12-18 minutes, or just until the edges of the pizzas turn a light golden brown. Remove and cool slightly.

    As soon as the pizzas are cool to the touch, use an edible marker to write phrases on each (similar to conversation candy hearts). URAQT, LOVE U, SWEETHEART, and CUTIE are a few favorites. Serve and enjoy!

Tinted with a pretty egg wash, topped with classic sayings and the candy, these pipin' hot pizzas are perfect for people you love!Plus, you can fill the calzones with your favorite pizza toppings. I tried making some with sauce and it proved kinda slippery and tricky. So just fill your calzones with the good stuff and serve the sauce later for dipping.Eat your heart out and enjoy!

Gluten Free Heart Calzones

In a large bowl, beat the eggs before adding the shredded cheese and 2 Tbsp of oil. Mixing well with a fork, slowly add the Chebe Pizza Crust mix. Stir well with a spoon before adding 4 Tbsp of water.

Roll out pizza dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out hearts using a heart shaped cookie cutter (or freehand with a knife).

Spoon the sauce mixture on one dough heart. Place another dough heart over the filling and seal the edges using a fork. (Be sure to not get the edges of the dough wet with the sauce as it will make sealing more difficult.)

Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet and spray the calzones with cooking spray or brush with oil.

Bake for about 18 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and serve with marinara sauce.

Say I Love You with Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Calzones

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and it’s the perfect time to celebrate L-O-V-E. This year, why not surprise your valentine(s) with an unforgettable meal they’ll fall in love with. Today I’m showing you how easy it is to switch up traditional calzones for heart-shaped ones! Whether you serve them as an appetizer at a special Valentine’s Day dinner or send them in your little cupids’ school lunches, they are sure to be swooned over.

To make these adorable, ooey-gooey, cheese-and-pepperoni-filled calzones, I used a few basic ingredients along with a large heart-shaped cookie cutter (3-4”). To get started, I combined pepperoni, pizza sauce and cheese in a small bowl. Then, I rolled out Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust onto a clean working surface, cut out heart shapes and placed them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. I dropped a spoonful or two of the mixture onto the centre of each heart, and then I sealed it with another heart-shaped dough cut-out. As a final step, I brushed the hearts with eggs to get a golden crust. Voila! Into the oven they went.

To use up the leftover pizza dough, I kneaded it together and rolled it out into a heart-shaped crust to make a mini pizza. You can also make a few mini dough balls, which are perfect for dipping in pizza sauce. It’s up to you!

While the calzones bake, it’s the perfect time to set up a cute Valentine’s Day themed table! For my setup I included a decorative bouquet of roses, pink napkins and glass bottles of caffeine-free root beer with pink polka dot paper straws. My kiddos, aged 3 and 6, were all too happy to be my taste-testers and loved getting a seat at such a festive table.

The heart-shaped calzones filled our home with the most amazing smell, like fresh baked pizza. Before I knew it, they were ready to eat. I pulled them out of the oven and they looked as lovely as can be. With a little bit of creativity and effort, these heart-shaped calzones came to be and were thoroughly enjoyed.

My children loved eating one of their favourite foods shaped into hearts and I know they’ll be just as happy when I make these delicious calzones for them again next Valentine’s Day!

Mini Pepperoni Calzones

Baker loves pizza, but packing a whole slice in his lunchbox can be a bit messy. Therefore, I decided to wrap his favorite pizza ingredients in my go-to pizza dough to create these great little calzones that he can easily eat with his hands. Calzones are nothing new, but to Baker, these Mini Pepperoni Calzones are the greatest invention ever! He was begging for one at every meal (including breakfast) after I made them the first time!

I like my pizza warm, so I prefer to reheat these in the oven or microwave, but I know a lot of people that love eating cold or room temperature pizza so your kiddo might not even want to microwave the calzone at school.

And, of course, you can use any pizza toppings you want. It would even be fun to set up a &ldquomake-your-own-calzone-bar&rdquo with a variety of your family&rsquos favorite pizza toppings and let each person fill their own calzone! I know we don&rsquot all have time for this idea on a busy weekday, but maybe a fun Friday family night?!


Making Mini Cheesy Heart Calzones

These mini heart shaped calzones are perfect for a Valentine's day party. They are easy to make and would be fun to make with your kids.

  • canned pizza dough (thin crust)
  • sliced mozzarella or Provolone
  • egg white
  • marinara sauce
  • fork
  • heart shaped cookie cutters (medium and small)
  • flour
  • rolling pin

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Unroll canned pizza dough onto lightly floured cutting board. Flour other side of dough too.
  3. Using the medium heart cookie cutter, cut out as many pairs of hearts as possible. Remove excess dough from around the hearts. Set the excess dough aside.
