Michelle Obama to Guest Star on 'MasterChef Junior'

Michelle Obama to Guest Star on 'MasterChef Junior'

The news comes weeks after the Obama family left the White House

Mrs. Obama has also fought for stricter nutrition regulations for schools.

Last week, the premiere of the fifth season of MasterChef Junior on Fox TV showcased 16 young cooks competing for eight of the top 20 spots.

Graham Elliot has parted company with his fellow judges on the reality show, Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, but viewers can expect to see a rotation of judges this season, including Martha Stewart and the Muppets. Former first lady Michelle Obama will also be a guest star on the show, the Los Angeles Times reported.

This won’t be Mrs. Obama’s first appearance on a cooking show: she has also appeared in Iron Chef America, Rachael Ray, and Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten.

As first lady, Mrs. Obama’s championed healthy eating for children. Her national initiative “Let’s Move” aims to solve the problem of obesity and allow children to “grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams,” according to the Let’s Move website.

We can't wait for Michelle Obama's guest appearance on "MasterChef Junior"

We have to admit, we were worried we𠆝 be forced to go cold turkey when the Obamas left the White House three weeks ago. However, we’re thrilled to report that Michelle Obama has no plans to leave us high and dry. According to the Los Angeles Times, the former First Lady is set to appear as a guest on the new season on MasterChef Junior.

OK, so maybe the next time we see her won’t involve stunning ball gowns or iconic speeches, but it will combine two of our other favorite things: cute kids and food.

The L.A. Times reports that Graham Elliot will not return as judge for this season of MasterChef Junior—which premiered Thursday night on Fox. Instead, the fifth season will feature guest stars—such as Martha Stewart, a few of the Muppets, and Obama herself—in his place.

This isn’t the first cooking show appearance for the former FLOTUS, but would be the first time she’ll be on a food competition show. We can’t imagine her being a tough critic, but if the kids are smart, they’ll go heavy on the vegetables.
