The Zumba Fitness company has announced a line of chocolate, vanilla, and mocha ‘all-natural’ protein shakes

Fitness isn’t just about moving to the beat; it’s also watching what you eat.

“Baila con la musica!” Zumba Fitness — the dance exercise program that has dominated fitness clubs for the last few years — is finally debuting its own line of vegan, low-sugar protein shakes.

Available in three flavors: “Coco Loco,” “Thrilla in Vanilla,” and “La Vida Mocha,” Zumba Shake Shake Shakes (so nice they had to say it thrice) are 100 calories each, gluten-free, allergen-free, and practically sugar-free.

Zumba claims it is one of the few protein-shake producers to use plant-based proteins instead of dairy-based whey. The company also prides itself on producing a powdered drink that’s not chalky, and without a weird aftertaste.

“It’s just as important to focus on what doesn’t go into a product, along with what does,” Zumba CEO Alberto Perlman said. “There is no fructose or any variation of empty sugars and yet, compared to many shakes on the market, we are hyper-focused on providing the best ingredients and taste to support a healthy lifestyle.”

The shakes will be released on April 4th. Drinks start at $99 for a 30-pack and you can sign up and get yours here once the launch date hits.

The Daily Meal had a chance to try all three of the new shake varieties, and although the individual chocolate, mocha, and vanilla flavors weren’t pronounced, we found they didn’t taste strongly like that familiar, off-putting protein shake aftertaste.

Chocolate Chia Recovery Drink

Let’s say you take a long, schwetty bike ride.
Or you finally do that Zumba class in all its awkward, pelvic thrusting glory.
Or you complete a half mary.
Or you lift weights like your name’s Xena.
Or you pedal that elliptical so fast it’s like “dance like nobody’s watching,” but you’re at the gym so, clearly, everyone’s watching. (Do work, Rhonda. Do work.)

I’ll tell you what. You need a post-workout recovery drink, sister. And today, that’s just what I’ve got.

This workout drink is inspired by ZICO’s Chocolate Coconut Water. I know: Chocolate coconut water? Sounds weird. But NO, it’s not. It’s perhaps my best beverage discovery of late.

What’s it taste like? Just like the creamy, rich, sweet chocolate milk of your childhood with a slight hint of coconut. Every time I drink it I wish I had a giant maple long john in hand, just like my former 8-year old self would’ve done. Those were the days.

Thankfully, even though this coconut water tastes like pure chocolate milk, it’s dairy free and makes the perfect base for a post workout recovery shake with antioxidant-rich cocoa powder, electrolyte-containing coconut water, and a hint of coconut cream for that rich, creamy texture every smoothie needs.

  • healthy fats and fiber from chia, flax and hemp seeds
  • protein from peanut butter
  • and potassium from banana

Friends, this shake is what dreams are made of.

I found this the perfect recovery drink after my recent rock climbing adventure. Remember that everyday life list I shared last month? Yeah, it’s coming right along.

In addition to indoor rock climbing, I’ve also been consistent with my morning meditation and planning intentional dates with John. In August we went on two movie and dinner dates, which made me realize how refreshing it is to get out and do things outside of our normal routine.

Whether you’re looking for a post-workout recovery drink, healthy breakfast or snack, this is the shake for you. It’s:

Creamy
Rich
Mega chocolaty
Perfectly sweet
Loaded with protein, fiber and healthy fats
Vegan and gluten-free
Simple
& Seriously delicious
